  • Year 6 Poetry Reading at Holy Trinity Church

    Thu 29 Jan 2026

Back in November, Year 6 were asked by Mr Paul Edmondson, Head of Research and Knowledge at Shakespeare’s Birthplace, to write poems celebrating the women in Shakespeare's life.

On Tuesday, a special celebration took place at Holy Trinity Church so that the pupils who took part, could proudly perform them in front of their family as well as dance and music. In English we are reading Skellig which inspired their atmospheric dance pieces. Mrs Herrero chose a wonderful song for all of year 6 to perform - a famous poem/song from Shakespeare’s play Love Labour’s Lost known as “Winter”.

To finish, the audience were treated to a fantastic performance by The Blood Suckers - Luca on drums, Oliver on guitar, Benjamin on Bass and brilliant rapping by Mia of a song they had written called The Prince of Playwriting!

It was a wonderful afternoon of poetry, dance and music, well done Year 6!
