Wednesday:

Use the BBC link to understand what rhythm in poetry is, then explore the rhythm in the poem. 
What kind of rhythm has the author used? 
When does the rhythm change? 
Are there any words or syllables that have get an emphasis?

Now, write an additional stanza to the poem. This could be a ghostly meeting between Bess and the highwayman or perhaps a stanza that answers one of the questions you still have about the poem. Try to write in the same style and rhythm as the original poem.

We're exploring dramatic effect in writing today. Work through the PowerPoint and then start hunting through the poem for words and other tools the author has used to add a dramatic effect.
