This week, we will retell the story of Jack and the Flumflum Tree by Julia Donaldson and David Roberts.  You can hear the story by watching Storytime for Kids Jack and the Flumflum Tree by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by David Roberts - YouTube. 

We will use a story map help us.  If you were in school last week, you will already have drawn your map.  If your adult emails the class account, we can send a photo of it to you.  If you have not yet drawn your map, use the sheet below to help you.  Can you draw a picture for each event in the story?

Take turns with your adult to say a full sentence for each picture on your story map.  For example:

• Adult: Granny had the moozles.
• Child: The only cure was the fruit from the flumflum tree.
• Adult: So Jack built a boat and found a crew.

We will then write our retellings.  Before you write a sentence, practise saying it aloud.  Make sure you use capital letters and full stops.  When you finish a sentence, read it back to check it makes sense.

We will be delighted with three of four carefully written sentences, but please tell more of the story if you can.
