On Monday, we will be completing the assessment for the place value block and Tuesday is our visit to Coombe Abbey for the river study. Please follow the link below to find videos to help review the content of the place value unit. You will need to scroll down to the bottom of the page to find these (weeks 1 to 3).
You might also like to try some of these online games. Please also practise times tables, both multiplication and division for all tables up to 12 x 12.
Wednesday - recap column addition with exchange
We will be completing the addition investigation below then the problem solving tasks (one from each page!)
Thursday - addition of whole numbers with more than 4 digits
The important thing to remember when numbers have different amounts of digits is that the columns must be lined up correctly. It may help to label the columns with their place value.
Can you complete these additions?
36782 + 2562
13487 + 454
627 + 23873
Can you create some others which will involve exchange?
You may like to try to problem solving tasks in the document below:
Friday - subtract two 4-digit numbers with one exchange
Can you complete these subtractions?
8357 - 1623
5284 - 2176
6633 - 4291
Can you create some subtractions of your own which have one exchange? Remember, one digit in the second number must be larger than its equivalent in the first number.
