Session 1 - All Learners

Summer topic
Writing a simple poem
Notes for parents and carers:
Last week we collected ideas for a summer senses poem. For each thing ( noun ) we  thought of a descriptive word ( adjective ) to give more detail. Here is an example, 'crashing waves'.  We are going to write a simple poem using our ideas from last week.
Read my poems, emphasising that your child  needs to use one of their ideas for each of the five senses (touch, sight, sound, smell, taste ).
Start a new line for each idea so that it looks like a poem.
For the final line, talk about the fact that you want to finish your poem by saying what season it is or where you are, for example:  We're on the beach!  Or  It's summertime!
They can then decorate the border with things mentioned in their poem.
Remember to do your best work.
