Thursday independent activity
It's time to visit The Healthy Shop again! In yesterday's zoom, Miss Cottrell showed some examples of finding change by counting on. In some shops, they still count out the coins when giving you change and it's a useful skill to be able to count on to check so you know you've been given the right change! If you wanted to practise this practically, you could set up a shop at home and use coins to pay for items and give change.
Please use the finding change sheet to help show your working. Choose an item from the The Healthy Shop, choose a coin which will be large enough to pay for it then draw loops on your numberline to help you count on (this could be in 1s, 2s, 5s, 10s - depending on the numbers involved). You can then add up the total of your loops to find the change for that item.
If you would like to start with some simpler amounts, try the finding change at the toy shop activity.
There is also a problem solving extension activity if you would like an extra challenge.
