Week Beginning 24th January 2022
This week we are doing maths through a story. Our story is 'One is a Snail, Ten is a Crab' by April Pulley Sayre and Jeff Sayre. You can listen to the story and count along using by clicking on the title of the book.
Using the animals in the story to help us, we will be having fun exploring all of the different ways we can make numbers. Below are some of the activities we are using to encourage exploration and systematic thinking. Try drawing some of the animals yourself so you can use them in your counting.
- How many different ways can you make 10 using the animals?
- Is it possible to make every number from 1-10 using only the 1 and/or 2 (the snail and the person)? Prove it!
- Roll two dice. Can you make the total number using the animals? How many different combinations can you find for that number?
