This week, we will learn to retell the story of Beegu by Alexis Deacon.  You can hear the story by watching Puffin Storytime | Beegu + Draw-along with Alexis Deacon - YouTube (and learn how to draw Beegu too).

We will sequence the events in the story by making a story map.  You can use the story map sheet below to help you.  Can you draw a picture for each event in the story?

We will then use our story maps to help us retell the story.  Take turns with your adult to say a full sentence for each picture on your story map.  For example:

• Adult: Beegu was lost.
• Child: No-one understood her.
• Adult: She thought she heard her mother.

We will then write our retellings.  Before you write a sentence, practise saying it aloud.  Make sure you use capital letters and full stops.  When you finish a sentence, read it back to check it makes sense.

We will be delighted with three of four carefully written sentences, but please tell more of the story if you can.
