At Holy Trinity CofE Primary School, our intent is to provide a high-quality science curriculum that inspires curiosity, nurtures enquiry and develops confident, scientifically literate learners. We aim to equip pupils with the knowledge, skills and vocabulary they need to understand the world around them and to thrive in an increasingly scientific and technological society.

Our curriculum is carefully planned and sequenced to ensure clear progression in scientific knowledge and “working scientifically” skills from Reception through to Year 6. Through engaging, practical and enquiry-led learning experiences, pupils are encouraged to ask questions, think critically, solve problems and develop a deep understanding of their local and wider environments.

We place a strong emphasis on developing accurate scientific language and building secure conceptual understanding, enabling pupils to apply their learning to new contexts. Science teaching at Holy Trinity promotes open-mindedness, resilience and responsibility, fostering positive attitudes towards science and an appreciation of its impact on everyday life.

By the time pupils leave Holy Trinity, they will be curious, reflective learners who see themselves as scientists, equipped with the skills and understanding to continue their learning with confidence and enthusiasm.
