Holy Trinity C of E Primary School

Rooted in faith, we reach for the stars.

Football Updates

On a glorious, sunny Monday evening, Holy Trinity hosted Alveston Primary School in two football fixtures.

The first match saw our girls' teams go to head with head. This was our first match without last year's very talented Year 6 players, but thankfully we have recruited two new excellent additions to the squad in Lottie and Pearl who both made very assured debuts. Our girls battled valiantly against a very physical opposition, and we came up against some very good goalkeeping. The game was decided on two excellent strikes from our opponents which gave Ellie in goal no chance of saving. On another day, our performance may well have been good enough for a positive result but that's sport! So sadly, a 2-0 loss to start the season but we go again next week!

As for our boys, it was a much different story. Playing together as a 9 a side team for the first time, you'd have been forgiven for thinking this is a side who've played together for years. The intricate passing and free flowing football quickly saw the boys take a 3-0 lead. To their credit, our opponents didn’t let their heads drop and managed to get a goal back. However, our boys continued to go from strength to strength in the second half, with standout performances from nearly every player on the pitch making it impossible to give them all a mention! A special mention must also go to Ellis' Dad, Paul and Seb's Mum, Dani, who kindly looked after the side for me (Mr Shuker) whilst I was refereeing the girl's match. A brilliant 8-1 victory to start what will hopefully be an exciting season.
