Dear parents and carers,

As you know, our classrooms are not really designed for the levels of heat we are anticipating in the next few days.  However, I want to reassure parents that we are taking measures to keep our classrooms as cool as possible.  We are currently waiting for portable air conditioning units to be delivered for each classroom.  We have tested one in Hummingbirds this morning and it is already making a significant difference.

We are expecting the units to be delivered this week.  However, I have inspecting classrooms this morning and I must say, at this point, the teachers are doing a brilliant job of keeping the classrooms cool.  

It is important to say that if the units have not yet arrived and we do have days where the afternoons have become unbearably hot, despite our efforts to keep them as cool as possible, we may give parents the choice of picking their children up early.  This will be most likely on Tuesday or Wednesday, but the school will keep you informed.  We are confident that the air conditioning units (when they arrive) will make our classrooms much cooler.

The Year 3 trip will still go ahead - there will be a Studybug to follow.

It is very important that children come to school with water, a hat and cool uniform clothing.  Please apply sunscreen before the children leave school in the morning, and send some into school with your child, preferably with their name on the container.  The children will be reminded to apply this before they go outside to lunch or afternoon play.
