White Rose have repeated their lessons about mass and capacity from the end of the Spring Term this week.

If your child missed the White Rose lessons at the end of last term, please complete White Rose Week 6 Lesson 1: Measure Mass  Question 3 requires equipment that you may not have at home, so please do not worry about leaving this question.  If your child has already done this lesson, please watch the videos for an alternative activity.  This task will help your child revise measuring and comparing mass.

Measure the mass of different objects from around your home.  Weigh each object using small items such as Lego bricks, marbles or pens.  For example, you might find:

  • The chocolate weighs the same as 7 pens.
  • The apple weighs the same as 9 pens.

You could record what you find by drawing a picture of the object and writing the number of small items beside it.  You can then compare the masses.  For example, you could say:

  • The chocolate is lighter than the apple.
  • The apple is heavier than the chocolate.
  • The chocolate is not the same mass as the apple.
